Ministry of Health Restricts DHA Content in Child Milk Powder

The new standards on food nutrition enhancer posted on the official website of the Ministry of Health on November 26, 2011 (opinion-collecting draft) specified that the percentage of the content of DHA in modified milk powder and modified butter powder (including milk powder and modified butter powder) (child formula powder only) to the total fatty acid must be ≤ 0.5%.

Just take the nutrition intake alone, every kind of nutrition should be absorbed at a proper level. Too much nutrition is likely to unbalance the nutrition in human body and harmful for health. Currently, some infant milk powder brands are suspected to have too much DHA. The restriction of DHA announced by the Ministry of Health is to ensure nutrient and safe mild powder for consumers.

Meanwhile, Dr. William Barth Jr. the Director of Maternity and Infant Medicine Department of Massachusetts General Hospital, assumed that fish oil nutrition products and DHA has been marketed overly. “Our offspring can be advanced only by taking some tablets? It is too simply.” He suggested that such simply method of promoting human mind development by taking DHA has got more and more skeptical opinions and need to be proved with further researches.
