Highlights of China’s Premier Children’s Fashion Event

 

 

Cool Kids Fashion Shanghai, China’s first trade event for kids’ fashion, opened its doors to fashion industry players from 22-24 July 2014 at Shanghai New International Expo Centre, China. It brought 51 kids fashion brands from 19 countries on the fashion stage, and engaged with 8,318 professional visitors.

 

Cool Kids Fashion Shanghai featured the latest fashion trend throughout activities which include Kids Fashion Design Contest, Designers Fashion Shows, Trend Forums, Kids Fashion Shows, Kids Fashion Museum and Private Networking Events.

 

Three of China’s top fashion designers, unveiled their autumn/winter collections at Cool Kids Fashion Shanghai. They also shared their design concept, as Mr. Davidson Tsui of Constance Kids said, “Every clothing I design tells a story. I put my love for my own kid into my design.” Miss Ying of Little Mee also added that she designs from a child’s perspective. “I hope to present totally different style of children’s fashion and change the perception of people that children’s clothes look similar and boring.” said Lorelei Liu of Kelkel.

 

Twenty designers were short-listed from over 800 aspiring designers and students of China’s top fashion institutes. Their collections were on display and were featured in the Kids Fashion Show. Zhang Xinqing, a young Chinese student from Zhejiang University of Science and Technology won the gold prize with her design “Color Dream”. The distinguished panel of judges is made up of famous fashion designers and heads of fashion associations, including Ms. Wu Haiyan, Vice President of China Designers Association; Mr. Dai Zi Yi, Vice Chairman of Shanghai Garment Trade Association; Mr. Andres Ferrer, Creative Pattern Cutter of Vivienne Westwood and Gharani Strok, Director of Mod’Art Paris-Shanghai University of International Fashion & Design Arts Institute; Ms. Lores Segura Castello, Director of ASEPRI; Ms. lynette Lee, CEO of Textile & Fashion Federation Singapore; Mr. Mario Braghieri, Director of Istituto Marangoni; Mr. Parker Yin, Director of China Designers Association.

 

The Kids Fashion Design Contest received high praise from the judges, as Ms. Wu Haiyan commented, “The designers who participated did a very good job. They presented the idea and creation from the younger generation. I am very glad to see so many young and skillful designers. They will be the future of this industry.”

 

Six fashion shows were held showcasing the autumn/winter collections from New Balance, Barbie, Los Mosquitos, Bubblegummers, SMILEY WORLD, Hush Puppies kids, NANONAN, Hello Kitty, Disney and Toonsland.

 

In Trend Forums, Mr. Massimo Carminat, Project Director for Trend and Fashion, Peclers Paris shared his insight for 2015-2016 Autumn/Winter Children Fashion Trends. Mr. Shaun Armstrong, Visual Director of M&S Department Store shared his experience and knowledge in Visual Design for Children Wear Store. MODA-MBA’s Fashion Buyer Advisor Mr. Steve Shi hosted a session on the “Do’s and Don’ts for Fashion Buyers”.
