CBME China 2016 Opens with 3,673 (+30% YOY) New Brands from 38 Countries

The 16th Shanghai International Children Baby and Maternity Products Industry Expo (CBME China 2016) will welcome 2,366 local and international suppliers representing 3,673 brands to showcase their latest products on July 20-22, 2016 at the new venue – National Exhibition and Convention Center (NECC) in Hongqiao, Shanghai.

The event will now occupy 223,305sqm of exhibition space covering maternity and baby care products, baby carriages, car seats and furniture, children, baby and teenager clothing, footwear and accessories, food and health care products, maternity clothing, underwear and accessories, and toys, educational products and souvenirs.

The Debut of More International Brands at CBME China 2016

CBME China 2016 will feature pavilions from Australia, Canada, France, Hong Kong, Korea, Spain, Taiwan, United Kingdom, United States, Singapore, and more.

“More and more international and regional brands are using CBME China as the gateway to China’s child, baby and maternity products market. This year, we see the debut of the France pavilion and the Taiwan Toy Pavilion at CBME China 2016. International pavilions have seen a 20% increase in brands and around 18% increase in exhibition space with 337 suppliers and 484 international brands,” says Ms. Gong. “CBME China not only helps more international brands enter China, providing consumers with more product options and variety.”

Co-located with CBME China, Cool Kids Fashion Shanghai 2016 will feature 70+ renowned brands from 18 countries. Cool Kids Fashion Shanghai is the must attend event for international clothing brands to showcase their latest collections and meet with potential investors and distributors in the region. Other highlights of Cool Kids Fashion Shanghai 2016 include Kids Fashion Shows, Trend Forums, Kids Fashion Shows, Kids Fashion Museum and Private Networking Events.

Expanded Licensing Zone to Connect Licensees and Licensors

In cooperation with Licensing Expo, Las Vegas and Brand Licensing Europe, CBME China 2016 launches an expanded and enhanced Licensing Zone. Participating brands include: Balala the Fairies, Boonie Bears, Crazy Candies, Datou The Son, Doby and Disy, GG BOND, Happy Toon, Octonauts, Peter Rabbit, Pleasant Goat and Big Big Wolf, Super Wings, Thomas&Friends/Fisher Price and more.

CBME China 2016 Licensing Zone helps global leading licensors find licensees for merchandise covering 0-16 age group in China. Other activities include Licensing Forum, business matching and more. In 2017, the fair will be held as an independent exhibition focused on licensing.

Focusing on Innovation to Drive Competitiveness

With increased competition in the industry, brands should continue to innovate in order to stay ahead. CBME China recognizes design excellence, product safety and creativity in the child, baby and maternity products industry with the following initiatives: 

·         CBME AWARDS is China’s child, baby and maternity industry's most anticipated awards. It brings renowned experts, industry leaders and media together. CBME AWARDS Gallery will feature the nominees for Top Retailer Awards, Top Brand Awards, the Innovative Products Awards, Consumer Awards and more. Over 200 of the short-listed entries will be on display at the CBME AWARDS Gallery. These entries have been hand-picked and deliberated by a “100-judge expert panel”.

Originally conceived to encourage independent research and development on safer quality products for mothers, babies and children, the CBME Innovative Product Awards continues the tradition by providing a platform for inspiring innovative products meeting the highest industry standards. Hand-picked by third-party design and testing companies, over 100 entries received, finalists per category will be on display for visitors to view and vote for their favorite.

·         New to CBME China is the CBME Product Design Contest. The contest is open to all baby, child and maternity product designers who have original designs not yet in production. A jury of senior designers have shortlisted 22 finalists, and the designs will be featured in a gallery at the fair. This Contest is aims to provide aspiring inventors and designers as venue to showcase their designs and find potential partners to bring their works from the drawing board to production.

·         Kids Design Contest Awards/Gallery: Launched in February 2016, the Cool Kids Fashion’s Kids Fashion Design Contest received 1,035 entries from worldwide aspiring designers. 20 designers have been short-listed. Their collections are on display and are featured in the Kids Fashion Show. Final judging will happen on 21 July.

Sustainability and Boosting the Retail Business

The retail business has been experiencing less than expected growth the recent years with less foot traffic, decreased spend per transaction and a decline in gross profit. CBME China aims to help retailers increase profitability in these challenging times. 

·         The Child Baby Maternity Products Industry Seminars will focus on “How to Get Customers Back to Brick-and-Mortar Stores”. At the same time provide the latest trends in the industry, insights on declining performance, understanding the customers’ needs and buying behavior and learn new business skills.

CBME China’s conference program aims to brand owners and buyers on conduct more efficient trade in the industry. The program provides a comprehensive source of information on China's supply chain and will feature a broad range of hot topics from retail store management and operations to emerging market trends.

·         A special gallery has been set up to showcase the best practices from Japanese retail stores. The Japanese Baby Products Store Display Gallery will provide exhibitors and visitors know-how on Japanese store visual merchandising, price-performance ratio, customer services and more.

·         CBME China’s annual Best Baby Store Sales Contest Awards 2016 continues to draw talent and attention in the industry. The 11th Best Baby Store Sales Contest Awards – Elsker Master Baby Massage Therapist Contest is designed to boost the skills of retail store personnel to be effective front-liners to boost sales and bottomline of retail stores. The finalists will go through the final round of eliminations during the fair. Winners will be judged and announced on 20th of July.

Value-added services to enhance buyer experience and facilitate trade
To help buyers and exhibitors meet and do business more effectively, CBME China is organizing a series of business matching for select-buyers. CBME China’s Private Buyer Meetings aims to help buyers meet one-on-one with top suppliers to specify their sourcing requirements, product specification and close deals. The leading distributors like Aite, Hua Fan, Shunfu; the leading Chinese retailers BabyBear, Kidswant, Leyou; supermarkets and department stores like Intime Department Store, RT-Mart, Vanguard. Participating overseas companies include Mamaway (Indonesia), Nishimatsuya (Japan), Windeln.de (Germany) and more.

Also, for the first time, CBME China 2016 will hold Private Buyer Meetings with Licensors and Private Buyer Meetings with Taiwan Toy Association and more.


CBME China Gives Back

CBME China initiated an annual charity program to create awareness, draw attention and raise support for children with autism in 2015. With the support of baby products industry, CBME China Charity Program 2016 will support the underprivileged children in China.

45 companies has donated products in order to be sold at CBME China Charity Program Sales Counters. Visitors can purchase baby products at a discount and help support the charity at the same time. All contribution will be collated and turned over to the beneficiaries in CBME China’s Autumn Seminar in October.
