Chinese government will relax the one-child policy by allowing couples to have a second baby if either is the only child in family. Currently, both parents must be sole children to be eligible for a second child. The new policy will allow 15-20 million couples to have two children. There is about 16 million newborns every year in China. With the revised policy, over 1 million newborns will be expected per year.
